Smashbox, FNO and tips from Davis Factor!‏

Hey everyone!

Smashbox co-founder and celebrity photographer Davis Factor made a special appearance at Nordstrom’s in Santa Monica for Fashions Night Out—guests were offered a personal photo shoot from Davis. A great friend of mine was able to talk to Davis and find out his great tips on how to take beautiful pictures!

How to Look Thin in Photos:

  • Everyone wants to look their thinnest in photos and a great tip to ensure you do is to stand slightly turned to the side. If your shoulders are perpendicular to the camera, you will look broader. Instead, try turning a bit. Once you’ve hit this position, turn your body slightly and look toward the camera tilting your head down bringing your chin toward your neck.
  • Also, posture is extremely important, if you stand up straight with your shoulders back, you will eliminate the possibility of having any unnecessary bulges that can make you look heavier in photos.

The Perfect Smile:
  • Many people are a little nervous about smiling. They don't think their smile looks good, but the perfect smile is something that often needs a little practice. I tell my clients to practice a smile in the mirror until you get one that you are comfortable and confident with.
  • My favorite is a soft, light smile. This is a smile that doesn't show as much teeth as you would when you are laughing. It will never appear overdone or fake and will eliminate too much gum or teeth from showing.

A Few Beauty Essentials:

  • Before the camera flashes, take a quick second to be sure your makeup looks as good as it did when you got to the event or party. Most of the time it won’t and there are a few key products that if you use to touch up before photos are taken will make all the difference.
  • You want to make sure you are not shiny, so a great mattifying product such as a powder or gel will quickly eliminate a shiny face.
  • I tell my clients to always have gloss with them, a sheer colored gloss or lipstick will really accent a beautiful smile.
  • Reapplying a coat of mascara before photos begin will bring attention to your eyes and create a flirty look.

Most Importantly, Relax:
  • The more comfortable you are, the better the photograph.
  • If you prepare yourself before the photo with a pose and a smile you love, you are all set.
  • Enjoy the moment so it shines through in the photo.

Whitney

~NVEY Cosmetics' Blush Review!~

Hey everyone!

This is a review on the NVEY Eco Blushes in the shades Earth Red and Apricot.

Here is a bit of information about the product. NVEY ECO’s Powder Blush subtly defines and enhances your look using a special Talc Free formula. Easily applied, the ECO blush delivers a soft, natural and seamless finish, formulated using a unique blend of corn silk, chamomile and jojoba oil. Vitamins A, C & E help protect the skin from harmful free radicals, and the organic elements from nature are great for sensitive skins.

The texture of the NVEY Eco Blushes are silky smooth, and the natural colors compliment most skin tones. NVEY Eco’s long-lasting blushes are quick and easy to buff into my cheeks, while never appearing dry or cakey. I also love to use these blushes as eye shadows because they are perfect to swipe over my eyes for a subtle hint of color.

This product retails for $29.00.

Pros:

~Silky texture

~Natural color

~Blends into skin easily

~Never looks cakey

Cons:

~None

Overall, I rate this product at 5 out of 5 sugarcubes! NVEY Eco Blushes are perfect for achieving effortless beauty when you’re on the go.

~NVEY Cosmetics' Eye Shadow Review!~

Hey everyone!

This is a review on the NVEY Eco Eye Shadows!

Here is a bit of information about the product. Soothing Chamomile and Antioxidants Vitamins A, C & E, makes for a smooth and soft formula, excellent for dry sensitive skins. Talc free, NVEY ECO’c combination of natural corn silk and jojoba oil adds depth of colour, ease of application and long wearing ability.

These eye shadows are absolutely incredible and vibrant in color. The textures are completely smooth, which allows them to blend quickly and evenly onto my lids. I have found that some of the colors can be less pigmented than others, which means that a little extra application is needed. Just remember to tap off the brush, so that there isn’t any fallout from these shadows.

These eye shadows retails for $24.00.

Pros:

~Smooth texture

~Beautiful vibrant colors

~Last 4 to 5 hours

Cons:

~Some are a bit less pigmented than others

Overall, I rate these eye shadows at 4.75 out of 5 sugarcubes! They are perfect to have on hand for that splash of color to make your eyes stand out above the rest!

~NVEY Cosmetics' Compact Powder Review!~

Hey everyone!

This is a review on the NVEY Cosmetics Compact Powder in the shade Oasis.

Here is a bit of information about the product. Soft as silk, NVEY’s ECO Compact Powder derives its texture from organic elements and effective antioxidants A C & E. Talc free, ECO’s unique blend combines corn silk and jojoba oil with subtle earth minerals to deliver a natural coverage, perfect to seal and refresh the foundation.

This compact powder is great to use for light coverage, or over a liquid foundation to set it. The powder is silky, which means that it never appears cakey, or settles into the fine lines of your skin. It can be applied quickly and evenly with a face or kabuki brush. NVEY Cosmetics Compact Powder works great to help prevent a shiny nose, forehead, and cheeks for those of us with oily skin.

This product retails for $42.00.

Pros:

~Silky, smooth texture

~Light to medium coverage

~Can use over liquid foundation or on its own

~Absorbs oil

Cons:

~A bit expensive

Overall, I rate this product 4 out of 5 sugarcubes! This facial powder is great to use on the go, or to refresh your makeup!
