Quick and Easy Grilled Asparagus Recipe!

Hey everyone!

2014 is a year that I plan on making healthier changes in my life, and one way I plan on doing that is by eating fresher foods! So far, I haven't been too good about this, but I plan to start now! The recipe I have for you today is for quick and easy grilled asparagus! This is a delicious veggie, and it's suppose to be very good for you!

To start:

You will need one bunch of asparagus depending on the amount of people you are feeding. If you are a veggie lover, I highly suggest making it two bunches!

You must wash, trim, and dry your asparagus spears. Once this has been done, generously add in olive oil, salt, and pepper to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.

Then, place your seasoned spears on an electric grill and cook for 5 to 7 minutes depending on the doneness you prefer. I still like my veggies to have a crunch to them, so I pulled them off after 5 minutes.

Once it is off the grill add a splash of lemon juice, and serve with a lean piece of meat. Tonight's meat consisted of a chicken cordon blue, which was delicious!!

Are you going to try this out?

Homemade French Toast

Hey everyone!

Since I have really started to get into cooking, I decided to whip up an awesome breakfast for me and my mom! The other morning, I created french toast! This was my first time doing it, and I was impressed with the results.

For the egg mixture that you dunk the bread into I used...

~2 eggs
~1/3 cup milk
~A pinch of nutmeg
~A hefty dash of cinnamon
~1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whisk all of these ingredients together until well combined. This mixture was perfect for 4 slices of bread.

Then, I dunked in my breadslices, making sure to give each slice 15 seconds on each side to absorb the liquid. After that, I placed the slices into a skillet on medium heat with 2 tablespoons of butter to help the browning process.

Watch your bread closely, once the first side has browned nicely, flip them over and cook the other side.

Once your french toast is completely cooked, serve it up with powdered sugar and maple syrup!

Easy and yummy!

Ben & Jerry's FroYo

Hey everyone!

As you may have guessed, I have a huge sweet tooth! That means that whenever I'm out shopping, I love to look for new yummy products to try. Last week, I was at my local grocery store, when I spotted Ben & Jerry's FroYo in the flavor Half Baked. Now, this little gem is packed full of chocolate fudge brownies and chocolate chip cookie dough chunks with vanilla and chocolate frozen yoghurt. It was totally yummy, and I plan to try out their other flavors soon too!

Sparkling Cherry Limeade Punch

Hey everyone!

I thought I would try something different today, and create a Sparkling Cherry Limeade Punch! The weather has been unbearably hot this summer, so I thought a refreshing drink would be perfect.

Ingredients:

~One 12 oz. Container of Frozen Limeade Concentrate
~4 1/2 Cups Seltzer/Sparkling Water
~3/4 Cup Maraschino Cherry Flavored Syrup
~One lime

Method:

Go ahead thaw the limeade concentrate in the refrigerator, chill your seltzer water, and cut your lime into wedges.

Add all ingredients into a serving bowl and gently stir to combine.

Serve over crushed ice, and garnish with a lime wedge. I recommend drinking this punch right after you make it, since it can become flat if the seltzer water sits too long.

Sugarsheen Philosophy:

Life is sweet!

Delicious Cucumber Dip

Hey everyone!

I always receive requests from my family to make this delicious and easy cucumber dip. So, I thought since all of you are like my family, I would share this recipe with you!

Ingredients:

~One English Cucumber
~1 1/2 Cups Sour Cream
~Half of a Lemon
~Three Garlic Cloves
~Salt
~Pepper

Method:

Gather all of your ingredients together, so that everything you need is right there in from of you.

Go ahead and prep everything by peeling the cucumber and garlic cloves and deseeding the lemon wedges.

Finely grate the cucumber into a bowl, and squeeze out all the moisture with clean paper towels. Make sure the cucumber is well dried, or your dip will become thin and runny.

Once all of the moisture is squeezed from the grated cucumber, finely grate in your three cloves of garlic.

Add the sour cream, lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste and mix thoroughly. Place in a new bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least four hours. I recommend using this dip on the same day you make it.

Sugarsheen Philosophy:

Cooking is fun, so enjoy it!
